Blackstone Hawaii was founded in 1987 by Mr. Kosh and Mrs. Aileen Akiyama. Over the past 37 years, they have handcrafted thousands of unique and heartfelt custom gifts, artwork, and crafts for a wide range of organizations — including military units, firefighters, government agencies, and local communities across Hawai‘i.

When Uncle Kosh and Auntie Aileen decided to step into semi-retirement, James and Sunny were honored to carry on the legacy of Blackstone Hawaii and continue serving the community with the same heart and craftsmanship.

James is a proud U.S. Army veteran, and Sunny is a registered nurse who also served as a Department of the Army Civilian. Sunny has always had a passion for creating jewelry, home décor, and custom gift items for military and civilian organizations alike.

Today, Sunny and her team work side-by-side to create meaningful, memorable gifts that celebrate milestones, relationships, and community spirit.
